Ramadan 2019

Each year Best Current News joins Christians around the world, praying for Muslims to have encounters with Christ during the Islamic month of fasting known as Ramadan. Ramadan begins when the crescent moon is sighted, and this year fasting will most likely begin on Monday, May 6.

During Ramadan, most Muslims will observe a fast from sunup to sundown for each of the 29 to 30 days of the month. Muslims are to abstain from smoking, drinking, eating and sexual pleasure during the daylight hours. All Muslims are required to fast when they reach puberty as long as they are sane and have no illnesses such as diabetes. It is to be a time of spiritual reflection and increased devotion to Allah, and Muslims believe the rewards for fasting during this time are multiplied.

Ramadan is considered the holiest month in Islam, because Muslims believe that it was during the month of Ramadan that Muhammad first began to receive his revelations. It is a time when many Muslims are more sensitive and open to hearing spiritually.

This year for our Ramadan prayer series, we are going to focus our prayers for people in specific nations around the world. Approximately one out of every four people in the world today identify as Muslim, and according the a Pew Forum Study, forty-nine nations have a Muslim majority population. God desires to reach these Muslim nations with the truth of the gospel. Our prayers will help prepare the way for the “light of Christ” to be revealed. We invite you to join us each day.
