After Kamal Saleem’s* severe car accident that broke his neck in two places, the medical team successfully used a neck brace, but he learned that his recovery would take weeks. Kamal had no family in America and no one to care for him. After being discharged from the hospital, he would need someone to care for him while he recuperated. Although Kamal did not understand what God was doing for him at the time, a caring doctor opened his own home to this stranger and took him in to recuperate. Welcomed as if he was part of their own family, their children treated him with love, something Kamal had never known before. Trained to be a jihad warrior from the age of seven, this doctor had no idea that Kamal had come to America to destroy their way of life.

Kamal could not understand their kindness. “In his home, they put me in the choicest room with the most beautiful things. I became like part of their family. They didn’t see me any different. They had a basket that says, ‘For Kamal.’ They put in money to free my bills from the hospital.”

Kamal shared, “The kids in the home were speaking to me without any violence in their thoughts. They were loving me, touching me, and praying ‘Jesus prayers’ in their little voices for me to recover and be healed.”

This kind of relationship with their God was so new to him. Allah was not a god of relationship, and Kamal was overwhelmed with the outpouring of Christian love. He had no idea that this Christian family was revealing the truth of the Word of God in I Peter 4:8, “Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.”

On Day #13, we see Kamal is faced with a life-changing decision between two spiritual worlds, and God’s love will prevail.

Prayer

The essence of God IS love. Muslims live outside of this “agape” love, just as Kamal did. True Christ-like love breaks down traditions, walls, and barriers of deception. Pray that God will reach into their hearts, destroying all obstacles of resistance to His amazing love.
